PsychBreak therapists are experienced in a range of individual therapy techniques and we work with clients to find the best fit for their current needs. While there are many schools of therapy, most approaches fall into two basic categories. To understand what will fit you best, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you want to learn new ways to cope with your problems, techniques to avoid painful issues, and ways to develop more positive thinking and behaviors?
  • Do you want to understand yourself better to get to the root of the issues that are bothering you, change the way you think about the world, and improve the way you deal with stress overall?

Of course, most people want relief from immediate distress and better understanding of the cause of their problems, however usually one feels more pressing than the other. PsychBreak therapists are trained in skills-based approaches to relieve symptoms, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, distress tolerance, and mindfulness techniques.

Our staff also address long term issues to help clients understand the cause of their pain and adopt new patterns to prevent further suffering using techniques from existential, psychodynamic, narrative, and drama therapy. The balance between short-term relief and long-term care is determined by collaboration between each client and the therapist.

Each of our psychologists and counselors bring a unique perspective to the practice of psychotherapy. We offer a broad range of psychotherapeutic specializations.

In addition to individual psychotherapy, we also offer group counseling and family therapy, conducted from a psychotherapy framework.
